Lockhart supports community initiatives across Upper Bann in busy pre-Christmas weekend

Carla Lockhart MP • December 17, 2025

Carla Lockhart MP has spent a busy Saturday engaging with community groups, churches and residents across Upper Bann as local organisations step up to support families in the lead-up to Christmas.

Speaking afterwards, Mrs Lockhart said:

“Saturdays are always busy, but as we approach Christmas it is especially important to be out and about supporting the people and organisations who give so much to others.

I began the day in Seapatrick Village at a coffee morning held in memory of Simon Glenn, a much-loved local young man who sadly passed away earlier this year at just 36 years of age. It was deeply humbling to meet Simon’s family and to see the community rally together, raising funds for diabetes causes and sharing fond memories of a young man who was clearly held in great affection.

I then visited R8 Church for their Compassion Ministry Toy Sale, a fantastic initiative which provides practical help to families while promoting reuse and recycling. It is a powerful example of Christian compassion in action, and I commend everyone involved for the care and kindness they show to the wider community.

The day concluded at Brownlow House for the South Lurgan Forum’s Soup and Serve Saturday, where local senior citizens enjoyed good food and companionship in a welcoming setting. The South Lurgan Forum continues to do outstanding work supporting older people throughout the year, and it was a real pleasure to spend time with so many friends.

Across Upper Bann, volunteers and community groups are making a real difference, particularly at a time when many are under pressure. I want to thank each and every person involved and assure them of my continued support.”
