Lockhart celebrates strong community spirit as thousands marked the Glorious Twelfth
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has praised the tremendous turnout and community spirit displayed across Northern Ireland as thousands gathered to mark the Glorious Twelfth.
Joining Orange brethren, bands and supporters throughout the day, Mrs Lockhart described the celebrations as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and vibrancy of Unionist culture.
Mrs Lockhart said:
“The Glorious Twelfth was a powerful reminder of one simple truth – we are not beaten yet."
Across Northern Ireland, the atmosphere was nothing short of incredible. Everywhere I went, I saw thriving bands, flourishing lodges and communities coming together with pride to celebrate our culture and heritage.
While others may seek to talk us down or dismiss our traditions, they will never diminish our spirit or our determination. The Glorious Twelfth remains one of the most important days in our cultural calendar, and this year once again demonstrated that our traditions are alive, vibrant and being embraced by the next generation.
It was a privilege to meet so many people throughout the day and to witness the tremendous effort that goes into making these celebrations such a success. From the bands and lodges to the volunteers and organisers, everyone played their part in showcasing the very best of our community.
As the Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, I am immensely proud to represent a constituency with such a rich cultural heritage, outstanding bands and flourishing Orange lodges. Events like the Twelfth remind us of the importance of preserving and celebrating those traditions with dignity and pride.
As a proud mum, one of the highlights of the day was watching my son Charlie take part in the celebrations. There is nothing quite like seeing the next generation embracing our traditions. It fills me with pride and confidence for the future.
I also want to thank the many people who stopped to speak with me throughout the day. Your encouragement, kind words and support mean a great deal.
The Glorious Twelfth once again showcased the very best of Northern Ireland. Our traditions are thriving, our communities remain strong, and together we will continue to celebrate our heritage with confidence and pride.”
