Carla Lockhart MP celebrates local centenarian Jim Copeland on his 100th birthday
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to local centenarian Jim Copeland as he celebrated his 100th birthday, describing him as “one of life’s true gentlemen” and thanking him for his lifetime of Christian faith, service and quiet inspiration.

Mrs Lockhart visited Mr Copeland and his family as birthday celebrations continued, presenting him with a commemorative coin marking what would have been Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday.
Speaking after the visit, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“It was a real privilege to spend time with Jim and his wonderful family as they celebrated this remarkable milestone.“
Although Jim was born and raised in the Aughnacloy area, he has made County Armagh his home for more than 45 years and has become a much-valued member of our local community.
“As someone who also grew up in the Aughnacloy area, it made this visit all the more special. We really are made of strong stock!"
“Jim is one of life’s true gentlemen—a faithful Christian, devoted family man and someone who has quietly inspired so many throughout his life. Even at 100 years of age, his memory remains remarkably sharp, and he continues to keep active by cycling whenever he can."
“Many people will remember Jim’s incredible 180-kilometre cycling challenge at the age of 95, raising funds for Charlene’s Project in memory of his beloved granddaughter. That achievement perfectly reflects his determination, generosity and servant-hearted nature."
“I was delighted to present Jim with a commemorative coin marking what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday as a small token of appreciation on such a special occasion."
“Jim’s life has been one of faith, service and resilience. I wish him God’s richest blessing as he celebrates this wonderful milestone and thank him for the outstanding example he continues to set for us all.”
Mrs Lockhart said reaching 100 years of age is a remarkable achievement and paid tribute to Mr Copeland’s enduring contribution to his family, church and community.
