Lockhart welcomes confirmation of Mill Hill speed ramp replacement

Carla Lockhart MP • July 15, 2026

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed confirmation from the Department for Infrastructure that a missing speed ramp on Mill Hill, Waringstown, will be reinstated following representations she made on behalf of concerned local residents.

The speed ramp was removed during recent road patching works, prompting concerns from residents about increased vehicle speeds and the impact on road safety.

Mrs Lockhart raised the issue with the Department and has now received confirmation that replacement works are scheduled to take place on Friday 24 July 2026.

Mrs Lockhart said:

“I am delighted that the Department has listened to the concerns of local residents and confirmed that the missing speed ramp on Mill Hill will be replaced."

Following its removal during the recent resurfacing works, many residents contacted me to express their concerns about increased vehicle speeds and the potential risk to pedestrians and other road users. I immediately raised these concerns with the Department and pressed for the speed ramp to be reinstated as soon as possible.

This is a welcome outcome and demonstrates the importance of residents speaking up when issues arise in their community. I want to thank everyone who took the time to contact me and highlight the problem.

Road safety must always remain a priority. Measures such as speed ramps are there for a reason, helping to slow traffic and improve safety for everyone who lives, works and travels along the route.

I will continue working with local residents and the Department for Infrastructure to ensure that concerns about road safety are listened to and acted upon.”

The replacement works will take place on Mill Hill, Waringstown, extending approximately 100 metres either side of No. 46, between 9.30am and 4.30pm. Traffic management will be in place, with delays expected to be less than five minutes.
