Lockhart Commends Community Spirit at Gilford and Ballydougan Big Breakfasts

Carla Lockhart MP • November 12, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart enjoyed a busy day in the constituency on Saturday, attending two fantastic community events, the Gilford Young Defenders Big Breakfast and the Ballydougan Orange Hall Big Breakfast.

Speaking after attending, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was a very busy and enjoyable day out in the constituency, starting in Gilford for the Gilford Young Defenders Big Breakfast. What an effort and what a turnout. It was fantastic to see such strong support for one of our most recently formed bands. The Gilford Young Defenders are a real credit to the local community.

We really appreciate all that they are doing with young people and their ongoing efforts to preserve and promote our culture and heritage. The crowds at the breakfast were testament to the high regard in which they are held. It was a great morning with a brilliant atmosphere.

After Gilford, it was over to Ballydougan Orange Hall for their Big Breakfast, another fantastic event. There was a great turnout and a tremendous effort by the men of Ballydougan. As always, there was a real warm welcome, and no one went home hungry.

These events showcase the very best of our local community spirit, with people coming together, volunteering their time, and supporting local causes. My sincere thanks to everyone involved for their hard work and hospitality.”
