Carla Lockhart MP Stands with the Parkinson’s Community

Carla Lockhart MP • October 22, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to the strength and determination of those living with Parkinson’s following her attendance as guest speaker at the County Armagh Parkinson’s Group.

Speaking after the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was an absolute honour to be the guest speaker at the County Armagh Parkinson’s Group, an incredible gathering of people who, despite the medical challenges they face every day, show remarkable strength, spirit, and a refusal to be defined by their condition.

I want to pay special tribute to Chairman Robert Jennett, whose dedication, shaped by his own family’s journey with Parkinson’s, is the driving force behind this amazing group. His compassion and leadership are making a real difference to so many people across our community.”

“There are over 4,000 people in Northern Ireland living with Parkinson’s, and they deserve access to the very best care and support. We urgently need more research, more specialist nurses, more consultants, and better access to treatment across our health trusts. These are issues I will continue to raise both locally and at Westminster.”

“I gave the group my full commitment, I will speak up for them and help raise awareness wherever I can. The stories shared were powerful and moving, and I left truly inspired by the resilience and positivity of everyone there. This group is the very definition of strength in adversity.”

The event also featured an informative presentation from a physiotherapy specialist from Belfast, offering valuable advice and practical tips that clearly resonated with attendees.

Carla Lockhart concluded:

“The County Armagh Parkinson’s Group provides an incredible network of support, encouragement, and friendship. They show that with community, compassion, and care, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.”
