MP joins Deputy Mayor at Lurgan Show Launch

Carla Lockhart MP • May 2, 2023

Carla Lockhart MP has commended the organising committee of Lurgan Show, following the launch event for the 2023 Show. The Upper Bann representative was joined by Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr. Tim McClelland at the launch at Craigavon Civic Centre.

Carla Lockhart said:

“Lurgan Show is one of the longer established, one-day shows, initially being formed in May 1912. That it is still going strong over a century on, is testament to the dedication of the organisers, the support from the community, and the wonderful family day out that Lurgan Show offers.

This years show will take place on Saturday 3rd June in the beautiful surrounding of Lurgan Park and will certainly be a fantastic event for all ages. The Committee put so much effort into making the show a first class experience, that celebrates our local agricultural industry whilst also providing a showcase and experience based on so much more that is good about our community.

It is also a wonderful opportunity to support charity, and this year the show has selected Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund (NIKRF) as this years nominated charity. A great cause and one that has a very local angle given the links with Ms Josie and Walter Kerr from Waringstown having set up the charity.

I am thoroughly looking forward to the show and would encourage people to put the date in the diary, and come along to support the show.”
