Good news for Mourneview Residents as New Window Scheme Announced

Carla Lockhart MP • March 12, 2025

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has welcomed confirmation that Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) tenants in Mourneview will benefit from a much-needed window replacement scheme. Following a sustained lobbying effort, tenants with wooden retrofit windows will have them replaced with new PVC double-glazed windows, with work set to begin in April 2025.

This announcement follows ongoing concerns from residents about the poor condition of their windows, with many households struggling with heat loss, condensation, and security issues. The scheme will deliver warmer, more energy-efficient homes for NIHE tenants in the area.

Carla Lockhart MP, speaking on the development, said:

"This is fantastic news for Mourneview residents. I have been engaging with NIHE for some time to push for this much-needed upgrade, and I am delighted that work will commence in April. Many families have voiced their frustration over the deteriorating condition of their windows, and this scheme will make a real difference in improving both comfort and energy efficiency."

"I will continue to work hard to ensure investment is secured for social housing improvements across Upper Bann. If any tenants have concerns about their housing conditions, I encourage them to get in touch with my office."

Residents seeking further details about the scheme or with any other housing issues can contact Carla Lockhart’s office for support.
