DUP representatives welcome progress in resolving Monree Hill issues

Carla Lockhart MP • February 7, 2023

DUP MP Carla Lockhart and Lagan River representative Alderman Mark Baxter have welcomed progress made to resolve some long standing issues impacting upon residents in Monree Hill, Donaghcloney.

Providing an update, Carla Lockhart said:

“Unfortunately there are a number of housing developments across Upper Bann that have been left unfinished for too long.

This is the case for those living in Monree Hill, Donaghcloney. Having poured very significant sums of money into purchasing a home, it is a running sore for residents when the development is left unfinished. It also leaves anyone wishing to sell their property in a potentially difficult place.

Working with my colleague Alderman Mark Baxter, we have been working with various agencies to make progress. As of last week, NIE have completed their works to allow the streetlights to be connected. It is hoped that the developer now can progress to making the lights operational.

The developer has now submitted the request to NI Water to have the area inspected with a hope that the sewage and water system can be signed off and adopted. This process can take a little bit of time, but we will liaise with NI Water to try to accelerate this process as quickly as possible.

This will unlock the resurfacing of the road network, which will make a huge difference to residents. Some resurfacing of pavements is already underway, and I trust progress on all outstanding issues will be swift.

Mark and I will continue to engage with developers and agencies to bring all outstanding issues to a satisfactory collusion.”
