Carla Lockhart MP Stands with WASPI Women
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has once again voiced her strong support for the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign, standing with women from across the United Kingdom who continue to seek justice after being unfairly impacted by changes to the State Pension age.

Speaking on the issue, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“It was a privilege to stand alongside the WASPI women this week in Parliament, a movement that continues to fight for fairness and dignity despite having been absolutely let down by the Government.
In Upper Bann alone, there are 5,796 WASPI women, women born in the 1950s who saw their State Pension age rise from 60 to 65, and then to 66, with little or no notice. Many had already made financial plans for retirement, only to find themselves facing years of unexpected hardship. Their courage, persistence, and determination are truly inspiring.”
The WASPI campaign does not oppose the equalisation of the State Pension age between men and women, but rather the way in which these changes were implemented, without proper notice or support. The lack of communication from the Department for Work and Pensions left many women unable to prepare, leading to financial strain, loss of independence, and uncertainty in later life.
“These women have campaigned tirelessly for years, and I will continue to press in Parliament until justice is delivered and they receive the compensation they rightfully deserve,” Carla Lockhart continued.
“This is about fairness and respect. These women have worked hard, paid in, and contributed to our society all their lives. The Government must act on the findings of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and deliver a fair compensation scheme. The WASPI women have waited long enough, they deserve justice.”
