Lockhart Praises Community Support During NI-Wide Hospice Collection

Carla Lockhart MP • March 24, 2026

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has praised the generosity of the local community and the dedication of volunteers after taking part in a Northern Ireland-wide Big Bucket Collection in Banbridge in support of Evora Hospice.

Mrs Lockhart spent time in the town centre meeting members of the public and helping to raise funds for the hospice, which provides vital care and support to patients and families across the area.

The Upper Bann MP said it was encouraging to see so many people giving generously, and paid tribute to those across the constituency who gave their time to support the initiative.

Commenting, Mrs Lockhart said:

“It was great to be in Banbridge taking part in this Northern Ireland-wide Big Bucket Collection for Evora Hospice, a charity that does incredible work supporting individuals and families at the most difficult times in their lives.

I always enjoy getting out and speaking with people, and it was lovely to have so many conversations while supporting such a worthy cause. I want to sincerely thank everyone who gave so generously. Your support makes a real difference to our local hospice.

I also want to commend all those across Upper Bann who braved the elements to lift money. Their commitment and willingness to give their time for such an important cause is truly appreciated.

Many of us will know a loved one who has benefited from the care provided by the hospice. Families are supported through some of the most challenging moments, and that underlines just how vital this service is.

Despite the essential role it plays, there remains a lack of sufficient statutory funding. That must be addressed. Services like this deserve proper and sustainable support to ensure they can continue their invaluable work for years to come.”
