Lockhart Attends Series of Community Events Across Upper Bann
Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has spent a busy Saturday attending a wide range of community, church and charity events across the constituency.
The day began at Gibson’s Hill Orange Hall, where Mrs Lockhart attended the Corcreeney Branch Baker Club coffee morning in support of Rev. Jonathan Creane and his wife Jayne ahead of their move into full-time mission work in Asia.
She then travelled to Bleary Young Farmers’ Hall for the Bleary Young Farmers Big Breakfast, held in aid of the Little Forget Me Nots charity. Mrs Lockhart met with members of the local rural community and praised the efforts of the young farmers who served over 100 breakfasts in support of this important cause.
Mrs Lockhart also attended the rededication of Derrycarne Orange Hall, marking 230 years of LOL 78 and 75 years of RBP 78. She commended those involved for the significant renovation work and investment in the future of the hall.
Continuing her engagements, the Upper Bann MP visited St Mark’s Parochial Hall for the Herbert Whitten Memorial Big Breakfast, where she welcomed the strong turnout and the growing involvement of younger members.
The day concluded at Fergus Hall, where Mrs Lockhart supported the Lynsey Courtney Foundation coffee morning, raising funds for cervical cancer research at Queen’s University and promoting improved smear testing.
Commenting, Mrs Lockhart said:
“It was a very busy but thoroughly enjoyable day visiting a wide range of events across Upper Bann.
From supporting mission work and engaging with our rural community, to celebrating important heritage and backing vital charitable causes, it was encouraging to see so many people coming together.
I want to pay tribute to all those who organised these events. The commitment, hard work and community spirit on display is a real credit to the people of Upper Bann.
While I was not able to attend every event due to timings, I appreciate the invitations and look forward to continuing to support local groups and organisations in the weeks ahead.”
