Lurgan College students shadow MP

Carla Lockhart MP • February 7, 2024

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart was joined by three students from Lurgan College last week for work experience. The pupils, Lewis Gardiner (Lurgan), Oliver Givan (Donaghcloney) and Charlie Foster (Lurgan), engaged in a range of activities to give them a flavour of the life of a public representative.

Speaking after welcoming the pupils to her office, the Upper Bann MP said:

“I always enjoy hosting work experience pupils from local schools, and it was really good to have Lewis, Oliver and Charlie from Lurgan College. The young men were are a credit to the school and to their families and having them as part of my office team for a couple of days was a real pleasure.

In the course of the work experience they engaged in meetings with local business, followed proceedings in Parliament, met with Rangers FC in relation to youth football provision and helped leaflet in Waringstown. This was just a glimpse of some of the work undertaken in the course of a busy constituency office. They also had the opportunity to meet the Lord Mayor and Cllr Peter Haire at the Civic Centre.

I want to thank Lurgan College for their ongoing development of local young people, and to Lewis, Oliver and Charlie for their work and interest in the work my staff and I do for the people of Upper Bann. I know each one of the guys has a bright future ahead.”
