Fall in gas price welcome, but price pressures remain
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the announcement by Firmus Gas that its gas price will fall by about a fifth from April in what will be the second decrease this year.

Welcoming the news, the DUP MP said:
“Since the outbreak of the conflict in the Ukraine, gas prices have been badly impacted and consequently the pressure on household gas bills has been unprecedented. Along with rises in electricity, the cost of heating a home has put many households under financial strain.
The announcement by Firmus Gas that properties within their Ten Towns network – locally including Craigavon and Armagh – will see bills cut by 18.84% will be a welcome relief to bill payers. This cut will arrive in April, and on average will save a household around £335 a year.
Of course prices still remain high, and pressure on household budgets remains. This is why as markets see further price reductions in the future, that these savings are passed on to customers as soon as possible. It is vital that this happens, and that the Utility Regulator acts swiftly to protect consumers.”
