Community of Portadown in shock

Carla Lockhrt MP • March 22, 2023

Upper Bann Member of Parliament Carla Lockhart has expressed her deepest sympathy to the family of the woman who lost her life in Portadown on Monday night/Tuesday morning. The DUP representative also wished the 12-year-old girl in hospital following the incident a speedy recovery and praised the emergency services and PSNI for their swift actions in relation to this tragedy.

Carla Lockhart said:

“This is a tragic loss of life. A young woman, only 37, no longer with us. My deepest sympathies go to her family who will be in such a state of shock at this sudden and heart-breaking loss.

We also remember the 12-year-old girl who is now in a stable condition and wish her well as she recovers.

Focus is now very much on the investigation into what happened that led to the loss of life, and I would commend the PSNI for the swiftness of their response. It is important for the community of Portadown, who are in shock at what has happened here, that anyone involved in this is brought to justice as soon as possible. I would ask anyone with information that can help the PSNI in their enquiries to bring this to the police directly, or via Crimestoppers.

Finally, my thanks go to the emergency services who attended the scene. As always we owe a great debt to those who serve our community in these roles and they are to be commended for their efforts in Portadown in response to this tragedy.”
