Carla Lockhart MP Welcomes Commitment on Gilford Riverside Walk Improvements

Carla Lockhart MP, Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, has welcomed commitments from Council to address a number of issues identified along the Riverside Walk in Gilford. 

During a recent visit to the well known Walk with Council officials, Carla Lockhart MP highlighted several concerns raised by local residents. These included broken lighting along the path, which poses safety risks, and overgrown vegetation making the walkways increasingly difficult to navigate. Additionally, the removal of important signage and missing life-rings were identified as issues that compromise both safety and accessibility. The cleanliness of the paths was also discussed, with general maintenance needed to enhance the walk’s appeal and usability. 


Carla Lockhart MP expressed her gratitude to the Council for their swift commitment to addressing these matters, ensuring that the Riverside Walk continues to be a safe and enjoyable space for the community. 


“I would like to thank Council for their proactive response and willingness to resolve these issues. The Riverside Walk is a treasured part of our local area, providing a wonderful space for exercise, relaxation, and connection with nature. By addressing these concerns, we can ensure it remains a welcoming and safe environment for everyone who uses it.” 


Carla Lockhart MP has pledged to monitor the progress of these improvements and continues to encourage residents to share any further concerns or suggestions regarding local amenities.
