Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has praised the outstanding efforts of the Edgarstown Residents Association following the successful hosting of the Phyllis Abraham Memorial Cup over the weekend in Brownstown Park.

The community football event, which featured both junior and senior tournaments, attracted a strong turnout and showcased great local talent. Organised in memory of the late Phyllis Abraham, the day brought the local community together to honour her legacy and celebrate teamwork and sport.

Speaking following the event, Carla Lockhart said:

“What a brilliant day it was at the Phyllis Abraham Memorial Cup. It was fantastic to see so many people come together to support this community event, which was very fittingly organised by the Edgarstown Residents Association.

There was a superb turnout at both the junior and senior tournaments, with great displays of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Huge congratulations to all the teams who took part.

I would particularly like to commend Jordon and Ruth for their efforts in making this event such a success. Their dedication to the community truly shines through, and this event is a reflection of their hard work and vision.”

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Carla Lockhart added:

“It was heart-warming to see the community united in memory of Phyllis, a much-loved and greatly missed friend to so many. I have very fond memories of Phyllis, she was a true community champion who gave so much to others.

This memorial cup is a wonderful way to honour her memory, and I look forward to seeing it grow year after year.”

The Phyllis Abraham Memorial Cup is expected to become a regular highlight in the local community calendar, celebrating both sport and the enduring legacy of a valued local figure.
