Lockhart Welcomes Progress on Controlled Crossings for Lurgan and Banbridge Schools
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed confirmation from the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) that controlled pedestrian crossings for St Patrick’s College, Banbridge, and Carrick Primary School, Lurgan, are expected to be delivered within the current financial year.

Mrs Lockhart said she was “delighted” that both projects, which she has been progressing alongside DfI for some time, are now moving forward.
Commenting, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“This is very welcome news for pupils, parents and the wider community. I have been working closely with DfI on both of these schemes for some time, and it is encouraging to see them now progressing.
“It has been a long haul to get to this point, but I am really pleased that both projects are moving forward. These improvements will make a real difference in terms of safety and accessibility for those travelling to and from school.
“I want to place on record my sincere thanks to DfI for their continued work and engagement in bringing these projects to this stage. I look forward to seeing work commence in due course.”
Mrs Lockhart also noted that there are a number of other schools with similar needs and confirmed her intention to continue engaging with the Department to progress further safety measures.
“I am very conscious that there are other schools facing similar challenges, and I will continue to work with the Department to ensure that those needs are addressed.”
