LOCKHART WELCOMES LONG-AWAITED DFI IMPROVEMENTS IN MOURNEVIEW
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the commencement of long-awaited improvement works by the Department for Infrastructure in the Mourneview area of Craigavon, particularly in and around the Spelga Park area.

The works follow sustained lobbying on behalf of local residents and are aimed at improving safety and enhancing the environment for both road users and pedestrians.
During a visit to the site, Ms Lockhart praised the quality of the work being undertaken and thanked DFI and its contractors for progressing the scheme.
Commenting, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“It is encouraging to see these long-awaited works finally being delivered in Mourneview. Residents have raised concerns about the condition of the area for some time, and I have consistently pressed for improvements to be made.
I am pleased to see DFI carrying out these works and I want to thank both the Department and its contractors for the quality workmanship being delivered on site.
I know many local residents will rightly point out that a full resurfacing scheme remains the ultimate objective, and I want to be clear that this remains the long-term goal. However, these improvements represent a positive step forward and will help enhance safety and accessibility in the meantime.
Local people deserve to live in communities that are well maintained, safe and attractive. While there is more work to be done, it is important that we recognise progress when it is made.
I will continue to engage with DFI and press for further investment in Mourneview and across Upper Bann to ensure our roads, footways and public spaces receive the attention they deserve.”
Ms Lockhart said she would continue to work alongside local residents to identify infrastructure priorities and ensure their concerns are heard by the relevant authorities.
