LOCKHART PRAISES ABC BLITZ TEAM FOR TRANSFORMING LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Carla Lockhart MP • June 3, 2026

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to the ABC Council Blitz Team after witnessing first-hand the positive impact their work is having across local communities.

During a visit to South Lurgan, Ms Lockhart met members of the team and saw the difference they are making by tackling overgrown areas, clearing weeds and addressing neglected spots reported by local residents.

The Blitz Team, comprising just 12 staff, works across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area responding to concerns raised by communities and helping to improve local neighbourhoods.

Commenting, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“We are often quick to highlight when things are not right, but it is equally important that we recognise and thank those who are working hard every day to improve our communities.

I had the opportunity to meet members of the ABC Blitz Team in South Lurgan and see first-hand the work they are carrying out. The difference they have made is genuinely impressive.

What stood out most was not just the quality of the work, but the attitude of the team. They were positive, hardworking and full of a real can-do spirit. There were no complaints, just a determination to get stuck into difficult jobs and make a visible difference for local residents.

This is a small team with a big impact. They work across the borough tackling overgrown areas, weeds and neglected spaces, often carrying out work that can easily go unnoticed but makes a real difference to the appearance and upkeep of our communities.

I want to place on record my sincere thanks to every member of the ABC Blitz Team. Their hard work does not go unnoticed and they deserve recognition for the contribution they make to keeping our neighbourhoods clean, tidy and welcoming.”

Ms Lockhart encouraged residents to continue reporting areas of concern to ensure the team can continue making a positive difference across the borough.
