Carla Lockhart MP Announces Delay in Chestnut Place Flats Demolition

Carla Lockhart MP • February 19, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has confirmed a further delay in the demolition of Chestnut Place flats, after previously announcing that the long-awaited works were set to take place in January.

Speaking on the matter Carla Lockhart MP said:

“The demolition of Chestnut Place flats has been a key concern for the local community, and I had been assured that work would begin in January. It is deeply frustrating that due to unforeseen delays, this has not yet happened. I understand that NIE has had to carry out essential alterations before the demolition can proceed, but recent storm has further disrupted their schedule.

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has assured me that their Project Delivery teams are in direct contact with NIE to arrange a new date. I will continue to press for progress and ensure that this much-needed work is completed as soon as possible.

I appreciate the patience of residents who have been waiting for these works to commence. I will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.”
