Time to end Breast Cancer
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart joined MPs from across the House of Commons at an event in Parliament last week, which focused on lobbying Government to prioritise ending breast cancer, and to remind women to check regularly for any changes.

The DUP MP said:
“The facts around the prevalence of breast cancer is deeply concerning.
Breast Cancer Now state that one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 10 minutes, and Cancer Research UK statistics show that one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. These figures show just how common breast cancer is across our community.
This should prompt greater investment by Government into research but also into awareness and early detection. Eight in ten women in the UK don’t check their breasts regularly and a third also admit they never check themselves for signs of breast cancer. This is something that we have to address, and we must divert more resources into emphasising to women just how important these checks are to better prognosis for those who discover breast cancer.
This event was very powerful and it is hoped that the Government, working alongside so many wonderful cancer charities, can make a difference to those with breast cancer. We have to aim to end breast cancer, and to do this we need Government to be ambitious in investing in care.”
