Teamwork helps secure controlled crossing for Carrick Primary School
Local MP Carla Lockhart has joined forces with the Eco Council at Carrick Primary School in Lurgan to help secure a commitment to deliver a controlled crossing at the School, to enhance safety of pupils and parents.

Commenting, the DUP representative said:
“Last year the School Council at Carrick Primary School wrote to me a very powerful and articulate letter, outlining their concerns about road safety at their school and requesting a safe crossing point.
Following receipt of this letter, I engaged with the Department for Infrastructure to request an assessment be made of the location, with a view to a new crossing point being provided to address the safety concerns expressed by the school pupils.
I am delighted that DfI has now confirmed that a controlled crossing at Sloan Street has been now placed on an active list that will be considered for implementation in the next financial year. This is dependent on Department resources and priorities, but is a key step forward to making the kids priority a reality.
I want to commend the school and the School Council for their hard work and campaigning on this important issue. This is a good example of everyone pulling together for the same objective, and I am glad that the outcome we all wanted has been achieved.”
