Support Local This Christmas: Back Our Home-Grown Businesses

Carla Lockhart MP • December 11, 2024

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has encouraged everyone to shop local this Christmas. As the festive season approaches, it is more important than ever to support our local businesses. From gifts and groceries to fashion and festive treats, choosing to shop, eat, and spend locally not only strengthens our local economy but also ensures the survival of the independent businesses that make our community unique.

Speaking on the issue Carla Lockhart MP issued a rallying call for the community to get behind local businesses this Christmas:

"Right, let’s get Christmas sorted over the next couple of weeks—and let’s do it locally! Our home-grown businesses have faced tremendous challenges in recent years, and now, more than ever, they need our support. Whether it’s shopping for gifts, buying fresh local produce, or treating your loved ones to a meal out, every penny spent locally goes back into our economy, creating jobs and securing livelihoods right here in Upper Bann.

Supporting local businesses isn’t just about transactions—it’s about showing appreciation for the people who work hard to serve us, day in and day out. By shopping local, we’re investing in the heart of our community and ensuring our town centres remain vibrant and thriving.

This Christmas, let’s make a difference by making conscious choices to support the businesses that support us. Choosing local means discovering unique, handpicked products, keeping our town centres alive, and contributing to the growth and prosperity of our community. Every pound spent locally is an investment in the people and places that make Upper Bann a great place to live, work, and celebrate. Let’s get the trend going in Upper Babb, shop local, eat local, and enjoy local this festive season!”
