New Bus Shelter for Old Bann Road welcome

Carla Lockhart MP • January 9, 2023

Local Member of Parliament Carla Lockhart has welcomed confirmation she has received following persistent lobbying, that a new bus shelter will be installed at Old Bann Road, Donaghcloney. This comes following the construction of a footpath to make the area safe. Also welcoming the addition to the area is Lagan River Councillors, Tim McClelland and Mark Baxter.

Speaking on the issue Carla Lockhart said;

“This is an issue that was primarily brought to my attention by local parents, who raised the need for some form of safe shelter for school children who were awaiting transport to local schools.

I raised this matter with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon City Council some time ago, and whilst it has required some persistence to get to this point, I welcome confirmation that the shelter has been agreed to. I know it has been ordered, so installation ought not be too far into the future.

I am delighted to have helped secure this shelter and previously the footpath to the bud stop and know that it will be a great benefit to local young people. Should any other area require similar provision, I would ask that people get in touch and I will raise the need with Council and DfI/Translink.”
