MP welcomes Lidl investment in Craigavon

Carla Lockahrt MP • January 23, 2022

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has said the announcement of a £3.5m investment by Lidl in the Craigavon area is welcome, particularly with the creation of 10 new supermarket jobs and 200 jobs during the construction phase.

Carla Lockhart said:

“Since entering the Northern Ireland market, Lidl has become a very popular store for many people across Northern Ireland.

The continued investment by Lidl in their store network is testament to the success the firm is enjoying locally. This is good news for local store employees, and indeed with 10 new jobs to be created and 200 jobs sustained during the construction phase, this will be another timely boost for the local workforce.

This bigger, better ‘concept store’ will see the current store at Craigavon demolished, and a new store some 800sq ft larger replacing it. This is the third large investment recently by Lidl and is most welcome.

I will continue to work with Lidl, other investors and the wide array of family businesses locally to ensure investment and job creation continues across Upper Bann.”
