MP joins 100th birthday party for one of Banbridge’s finest

Carla Lockhart MP • November 21, 2023

Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, Carla Lockhart has joined Mrs Weir, a Banbridge resident, as she marked her 100th birthday last week.

Commenting, the DUP representative said:

“One of the lovely things I get to do as MP is to visit constituents when they reach their 100th birthday. It is a remarkable age to reach and I was delighted to join with her and her family for Afternoon Tea at Brownlow Castle. She certainly was enjoying all the activity for her birthday celebrations.

I want to thank the Weir family for the lovely invitation along to celebrate with them as they made memories with a wonderful mum, granny, great granny and friend to many. Mrs Weir is so highly regarded in the local area but is first and foremost a much loved member of the Weir family. It was great to see Mrs Weir look and sound so well and for her to continue to say that the most important thing is her faith and her family,

100 years will have allowed Mrs Weir to see so much change, and it was nice to just spend some time in her company on this important day. It also was a pleasure to present her with a Queen Elizabeth II brooch to mark the occasion. I wish her ongoing health and strength.”
