Mourneview and Grey Estate Inspected With Help of MP Lockhart and Councillor Haire

Local DUP representatives raised issues on the ground at a recent inspection of Mourneview and Grey Estate. Organised by the charity Supporting Communities the visit brought together the Housing Executive and the ABC council to see first hand the issues that need addressed in the local area.

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has highlighted the significant issue of escalating fuel prices in Parliament, focusing on the severe impact these costs have on drivers, particularly in rural areas like Upper Bann. During Treasury question time, the DUP MP urged the Government to tackle the burdensome fuel costs, which have seen a sharp increase of 10p per litre since the beginning of the year, escalating the average cost of filling a family car to £82.50.

DUP MP Carla Lockhart welcomed progress on the road repair between Lurgan and Waringstown. After fielding concerns from constituents about a significant dip in the road, Carla (alongside local DUP councillors Mark Baxer, Tim McCelland and Paul Rankin), facilitated action by the Department for Infrastructure (DFI), which has now assessed the issue and have initiated plans for repair.

During a recent visit to Loughgall, Carla Lockhart MP had the privilege of touring the Royal Black Institution Headquarters, situated at 45 - 47 Main Street, Loughgall. This iconic building, acquired by the Institution in 2018, underwent significant renovations and officially opened its doors again in 2022.

The store is the first of three former Houston’s stores to relaunch under new management with the others launching soon in Banbridge and Portadown. This vibrant new addition to Lurgan’s high street offers a range of products including clothing, homeware, and more.

Carla Lockhart, MP for Upper Bann, has praised the expansion plans of Cafe Marmalade in Banbridge. A planning application submitted to Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council seeks to enhance the cafe by adding first-floor seating for approximately 80 customers.

P for Upper Bann, Carla Lockhart, recently attended a commemorative event marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Private Eva Martin. Private Martin, who served in the Ulster Defence Regiment, was tragically killed in a rocket attack on May 2, 1974, at The Deanery base near Clogher, County Tyrone. She was 28 years old and notably the first female soldier and Greenfinch to be killed during Operation Banner.
