Lockhart to vote against in vote on Windsor Framework

Carla Lockhart MP • March 21, 2023

Local DUP MP Carla Lockhart has said she will be voting against the draft statutory instrument in Parliament on Wednesday, in relation to the Windsor Framework.

Commenting, the Upper Bann MP said:

“I along with DUP colleagues will be voting against the draft statutory instrument when it comes before the House of Commons on Wednesday.

Last week my Party leader was clear when he indicated that while significant progress had been secured in the Windsor Framework across a number of areas it does not deal with some of the fundamental problems at the heart of our current difficulties.

It is our party view that there remain key areas of concern which require further clarification, re-working and change as well as seeing further legal text.

This must be got right. It is vital that it is to ensure Stormont can return built on the firm foundations of cross community consent.

The Government ought to be focusing on addressing outstanding concerns, not trying to railroad some kind of vote through the Commons to be used as some form of endorsement of the entire Windsor Framework. In this context, I will be voting against on Wednesday.”
