Carla Lockhart MP • February 11, 2026

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has praised the talent, creativity and confidence shown by local pupils at the Young Enterprise Big Market Trade Fair, held at Rushmere Shopping Centre. Schools from BanbridgeLurgan and  Portadown were well represented at the event, which showcased a wide range of student-led business ideas and products.

Speaking after attending the trade fair, Ms Lockhart said:

“It was great to see so many local schools represented at this year’s Young Enterprise Big Market Trade Fair in Rushmere. The standard on display was exceptional, with young people showing real confidence, creativity and strong sales skills. As is always the case, I came home with goodies galore.

“There are definitely some budding entrepreneurs among our young people, and it is hugely encouraging to see their ideas brought to life in such a professional setting.”

Ms Lockhart also paid tribute to those who supported the pupils in making the event a success.

“Well done to all the young people who took part, along with their teachers and business mentors who support them throughout the year. Events like this simply would not happen without that commitment. I also want to commend Rushmere Shopping Centre and Young Enterprise for providing such a valuable opportunity for young people to learn, grow and gain real-world business experience.”
