Carla Lockhart MP • September 24, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has praised the organisers of the hugely popular Country Comes to Town event in Portadown, which once again brought thousands of people into the town centre for a day of music, entertainment, and family fun.

The annual festival, led by Mr John Wilson MBE and his dedicated team of volunteers, has become a highlight of the calendar in Portadown and beyond. With live country music, stalls, displays, and a unique atmosphere, the event continues to attract crowds from far and wide.

Carla Lockhart MP said:

“Portadown was absolutely buzzing for Country Comes to Town. The atmosphere was wonderful, with thousands enjoying the music, stalls, and all the attractions that make this event so special.

Huge congratulations and thanks must go to Mr John Wilson MBE and his team for the incredible work they do. Year after year they go over and above to deliver a first-class event for the town, and they deserve great credit.

It was also a joy to see so many constituents out enjoying the day, catching up with friends and family, and supporting local businesses who play such an important role in making this event thrive.

Country Comes to Town is one of those occasions that really showcases Portadown at its best, and I look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”
