LOCKHART PRAISES COMMUNITY SPIRIT AT BANBRIDGE RANGERS BREAKFAST AND MND FUNDRAISER
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has praised the strength of community spirit across the constituency after attending two community events on Saturday, including Banbridge Rangers Football Club’s Big Breakfast and a fundraising coffee morning in support of a local family affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Carla Lockhart MP said:
“Saturday was another reminder of the tremendous community spirit that exists right across Upper Bann.”
“My day began at Banbridge Rangers Football Club’s Big Breakfast, where there was excellent food, great company and a real sense of pride in the important role the club continues to play within the local community. Banbridge Rangers is a fantastic club and events such as this highlight the invaluable contribution made by volunteers and community organisations across our area.”
“Later, I attended a coffee morning at the Jethro Centre in support of Caroline Anderson and her family. Many people across the band scene and beyond will know Caroline through her food truck, which has been a familiar sight at events throughout Northern Ireland for many years.”
“Caroline’s son, Stephen, who is currently living in Australia, is battling Motor Neurone Disease. The family is working hard to raise the funds needed to bring Stephen and his daughter home to Northern Ireland, where they can be surrounded by family and receive the support they need during this incredibly difficult time.”
“It was heartening to see so many people come together to support the family. Their generosity and compassion demonstrate the very best of our local community and I would encourage anyone who is able to do so to consider supporting the family’s fundraising efforts.”
“These were two very different events, but both showcased the very best of Upper Bann. Whether through supporting local sport, volunteering in the community or rallying around a family facing difficult circumstances, people continue to show the kindness, generosity and community spirit that makes this area so special.”
