Lockhart congratulates Charlestown village on Ulster in Bloom recognition

Carla Lockhart MP • October 10, 2023

Local Member of Parliament Carla Lockhart has congratulated all those involved in making Charlestown village the runner up in the Translink Ulster in Bloom 2023 competition, in the small village category.

Recognising the success, the DUP MP said:

“Ulster in Bloom is a very competitive process. Taking part involves a huge amount of volunteer work in local communities, in partnership with Council staff who put so much work into improving how our towns and villages appear.

Right across ABC Council we have wonderful examples of stunning towns and villages. I am delighted that in last week’s awards, the beautiful Charlestown village was awarded the honour of runner up in the small village category. It is a very appropriate recognition of the incredible work of so many people in the local community, and indeed of the expertise and hard work of ABC Council staff.

I am delighted that the area has enjoyed this success, and I know that right across Upper Bann we have other areas who could rightly lay claim to this award in the future. I would encourage everyone to consider how they can help improve their areas, and to make a positive difference in how the area looks.”
