Lockhart champions employment opportunities for those with learning disabilities

Carla Lockhart MP • December 12, 2023

DUP MP for Upper Bann Carla Lockhart has spoken in Westminster to highlight the need for Government to support employment opportunities for those living with a learning disability.

Speaking in Westminster, Carla Lockhart cited Café Inredable in Lurgan as a example of good practice.

“I firmly support the creation of employment opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities. Cafe Incredable in Lurgan serves as an exemplary model in this regard, embodying the ethos of inclusion and empowerment.

Individuals with learning disabilities possess a wealth of untapped potential, and it's imperative that society recognises and nurtures their talents. By providing them with employment, we not only foster their personal growth but also enrich our communities. Cafe Incredable stands as a example of this, offering a welcoming space where individuals with learning disabilities can thrive.

I commend Cafe Incredable for their commitment to inclusivity, setting a example for businesses and communities. They showcase how diversity in the workplace enhances productivity and creates a more vibrant, compassionate society.

We need more businesses and organisations to follow this lead, breaking down barriers and creating opportunities that allow everyone, regardless of their abilities, to participate fully in the workforce.”
