Impact of Boys Brigade Old Boys Association marked at service

Carla Lockhart MP • February 28, 2023

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart joined Lord Mayor Councillor Paul Greenfield at a special church service on Sunday at Thomas Street Methodist Church, Portadown, to celebrate and give thanks for the Boys Brigade, and the 1st Portadown Boys Brigade Old Boys Association.

Speaking after the annual service, the DUP representative said:

“This was a very uplifting and challenging service, focused around the Boys Brigade and the 1st Portadown BB Old Boys Association.

The ongoing success of the Old Boys Association is testament to the life long impact of the BB on the lives of these men. It is a credit to the Chair of the Association, Mr Steven Wright, that the Association continues to meet. Steven puts so much effort into the Association and I know he places great emphasis on this service of thanksgiving each year.

1st Portadown Boys Brigade has helped shape and influence many lives for generations, and I know that the influence has been wholly positive. Right across Upper Bann we have BB Company’s meeting week after week, helping to equip boys for the challenges of this world. I pay tribute to all those involved in this work, and would encourage anyone with boys to send their sons along to BB. It is a tremendous organisation that I know they will enjoy.”
