Iceland Car Park Charges Suspended in Banbridge
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the suspension of parking charges at Iceland’s Banbridge store, following problems with faulty payment machines that had resulted in shoppers receiving unfair fines.

For a period of time, customers were penalised despite the fact that payment machines were out of order. After raising the issue directly with the company and parking operators along with colleagues, Carla Lockhart MP confirmed that parking charges at the Banbridge site have now been suspended. Shoppers can park for free for up to 90 minutes while the issue is being resolved.
Speaking on the development, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“I am very pleased to have helped alongside colleagues secure this outcome for local shoppers. The situation whereby people were being fined when the machines were not working was completely unfair. I raised this matter directly, and I welcome the fact that parking charges are now suspended at the Banbridge site.”
“I know that many tickets have already been cancelled, and discussions are ongoing regarding refunds for those who have paid. This is a positive step, but I will continue to press to ensure everyone who has been unfairly impacted receives fair treatment.”
“In the meantime, if you have received a fine, I would strongly encourage you to challenge it. My office is available to offer advice and assistance, and I would urge anyone affected to get in touch.”
