Happy 100th Birthday Miss Mehaffey

Carla Lockhart MP • September 24, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has congratulated Miss Muriel Mehaffey on reaching the wonderful milestone of her 100th birthday.

Miss Mehaffey, one of Banbridge’s finest, marked her centenary surrounded by her loving family and friends. Over the course of her long life she has witnessed many changes in society, yet remains in excellent health. She made a significant contribution to Northern Ireland through her career in the Civil Service and has been a lifelong and faithful member of Bannside Presbyterian Church, where she continues to worship each week.

Speaking after visiting Miss Mehaffey, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was a real honour to join Miss Mehaffey and her wider family circle to celebrate this remarkable occasion. What an amazing lady she is, and what a joy to spend time in her company as such special memories were made.

Miss Mehaffey has given so much to our community and to Northern Ireland through her years of dedicated service in the Civil Service, and her commitment to her church has been a shining example of faithfulness. She is deeply respected and admired by all who know her.

On behalf of everyone across the Upper Bann constituency, I want to wish Miss Mehaffey a very big happy birthday. To mark her centenary, I was also delighted to present her with a Queen Elizabeth II brooch from the Empire Poppy Store a small token to honour such a special milestone in a truly special life.”
