Carla Lockhart MP Welcomes Partial Reopening of Gilford Play Park Following Storm Damage
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the partial reopening of Gilford Play Park, following its closure due to significant storm damage earlier this year. The local MP has been working closely with Council officials and Banbridge Councillors Paul Greenfield and Ian Wilson to ensure urgent repairs were prioritised and families in the area were not left without access to play facilities.

Carla Lockhart MP said:
"Over recent weeks, I’ve been contacted by many parents rightly frustrated at the closure of Gilford Play Park. This facility is so important for local children and families, and I have been working hard behind the scenes with Council officers and local Councillors Paul Greenfield and Ian Wilson to get things moving."
"I’m pleased to confirm that the park has now partially reopened, allowing children to once again enjoy the space – a very welcome step forward for the community."
"Unfortunately, some equipment including both swing sets and the see-saw were damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced. A significant section of fencing also requires renewal. The good news is that a contractor has now been appointed to carry out these works, with repairs expected to be completed within 6 to 8 weeks."
"I want to thank everyone who raised their concerns and helped keep pressure on for progress. I will continue to monitor developments closely and work with all involved to ensure the remaining repairs are completed as quickly as possible."
