Carla Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, has paid tribute to the courageous service of all those who served in the Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) and is encouraging former members and their families to access the support available through the UDR Benevolent Fund.

The UDR Benevolent Fund is a registered charity that exists to provide welfare and respite support to former UDR personnel and their families. Over the past 15 years, the Fund has invested more than £5 million in assistance, including help with financial difficulties, emotional support, and respite care.

Speaking about the importance of this vital support, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“I want to take this opportunity to commend all those who served in the UDR for their bravery, resilience, and dedication to protecting our community during a time of immense challenge. Your service was vital, and your contribution will never be forgotten.

“The UDR Benevolent Fund is there to provide a helping hand to those who gave so much. Whether you or your family are facing financial pressures, need support with well-being or care needs, or simply need advice, I encourage you to reach out to the Fund. It is there for you, and it exists to make a difference in your lives.

If you or someone you know could benefit from the services offered by the UDR Benevolent Fund, please contact the Fund secretary on 07720677838 or email udrbenfund@outlook.com. ”
