Carla Lockhart MP Commends Community Spirit at Coffee Morning in Memory of Mervyn Hall

Carla Lockhart MP • July 2, 2025

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has paid tribute to the warmth and generosity of the Waringstown community following her visit to a special coffee morning hosted by Evelyn Hall in memory of her late husband, Mervyn, on what would have been his birthday.

The event, held at Evelyn’s home, brought together friends, family, and neighbours for a morning of tea, coffee, beautiful food, and conversation all in aid of Dementia NI. The charity, which supports individuals and families affected by dementia, was chosen by Evelyn as a fitting tribute to Mervyn’s memory.

Speaking after the visit, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was a real privilege to visit Evelyn Hall and be part of such a special and heartfelt morning. On what must have been a deeply emotional day, Evelyn opened her home and her heart to the local community. It was a truly beautiful tribute to her much-loved Mervyn.”

“What struck me most was the incredible sense of support and togetherness. Evelyn, with the help of her wonderful army of volunteers, created something meaningful that not only honoured Mervyn’s life, but also raised vital funds for a cause that touches so many families.”

“Events like this are the heartbeat of our community built on love, generosity, and genuine care for others. I commend Evelyn for her strength and kindness, and I know Mervyn would have been so proud.”

All proceeds from the coffee morning were donated to Dementia NI, helping the charity continue its important work across Northern Ireland.
